Relentless Pursuit in Worship of Jesus

Pastor Matt examines Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, highlighting how it fulfills Old Testament prophecy. He emphasizes Jesus' worthiness of worship as the Creator of all things. He challenges our church to prioritize worshipping Jesus in their lives, with a call to action that they commit to Sunday gatherings plus one additional spiritual activity each week.

Sermon Notes

Have you ever been so caught up in a moment you just celebrated with relentless abandon?

Luke 19:28-29 NIV

After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them,

Luke 19:30-31 NIV

“Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”

Luke 19:32-34 NIV

“Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” They replied, 'The Lord needs it.'”

Zechariah 9:9 NIV

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Luke 19:35-36 NIV

They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road.

Luke 19:37 NIV

When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:

The activity of God inspired the people of God to worship.

Luke 19:38 NIV

“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”

“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Psalms 118:26 NIV

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

From the house of the Lord we bless you.

John 12:16 NIV

At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.

John12:17-19 NIV

Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

Luke 19:39-40 NIV

Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

“I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

Colossians 1:16-17 NIV

For in him (Jesus) all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Jesus is worthy to be worshipped, because He is the Creator of ALL things.

Acts 17:24-25 NIV

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.”

Everyone that has life, that has breath, and Everything else that exists is because of Him!

What do I need to do to become the person God wants me to be?

To become more like Jesus, I will prioritize Sunday gatherings plus one more each week.
