What Does Love Require Of Me?

Sermon Notes

How many years do you want to be married?

What does love require of me?

John 13:34 NIV

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

When you’re not sure what to say or do you love people like Jesus loved you.

John 13:35 NIV

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another."

1 Corinthians 13:1 NIV

"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal."

1 Corinthians 13:2 NIV

"If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing." (Better translated, "I’m a nobody.")

1 Corinthians 13:3 NIV

"If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing."

1 Corinthians 13:4 NIV

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud."

1 Corinthians 13:5-8a NIV

"It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

1John 4:20-21 MSG

"If anyone boasts, 'I love God,' and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won’t love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can’t see? The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both."

What does love require of me?

1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV

"And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE."
