Glory - weight and/or significance
When a representation of God's character is on display - we call that glory.
Hebrews 1:3 NIV
"The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
The glory of God is clearly seen in Jesus.
John 1:14 NIV
"The Word (Jesus!) became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
Jesus' glory is perhaps most on display through His grace and truth.
Colossians 1:15 NIV
"The Son (Jesus!) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation."
Colossians 1:16 NIV
"For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him."
All things are created through Him.
All things are created for Him.
Colossians 1:17 NIV
"He is before all things, and in him, all things hold together."
"You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in you." - Saint Augustine of Hippo
Colossians 1:18 NIV
"And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead so that in everything he might have the supremacy."
Supremacy - próteuó (prote-yoo'-o) preeminence, chief, or first.
Colossians 1:19-20 NIV
"For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross."
Mark 12:29-30 NIV
"'The most important one,' answered Jesus, 'is this: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'"
This Relentless Pursuit initiative is about calling all of us to Relentlessly Pursue Jesus first in our lives.
