Loving The Unlovable
- Matt Nickoson
Sermon Notes
Who hurt you?
Psalms 68:5-6 NIV
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.
God sets the lonely in families,
he leads out the prisoners with singing;
but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
When we do good works in Jesus' name, it shows others that God loves them.
Ephesians 2:10 NIV
For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Is there anyone in your world that you would rather avoid, but you sense God is calling you to love?
Who loves you?
Ephesians 1:3-4a NIV
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.
Ephesians 1:4b-6 NIV
In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
The Church is supposed to be the one place where all the adopted family gets together.
1 John 4:17 NIV
This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world, we are like Jesus.
1 John 4:18 NIV
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:19 NIV
We love because he first loved us.
