“When He tells us to love our enemies He gives, along with the command, the love itself.” - Corrie ten Boom, The Hiding Place

I stood there – I whose sins had again and again been forgiven – and could not forgive. Betsie had died in that place.  Could he erase her slow terrible death simply for the asking“?  It could have been many seconds that he stood there-hand held out-but to me.  It seemed like hours as I wrestled with the most difficult thing I ever had to do…I had to do it…I knew that…forgiveness is an act of the will, and the will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart. “Jesus help me!”  I prayed silently. As she reached out her hand to the former guard, Corrie says that something incredible took place.

“The current started in my shoulder, raced down my arm, sprang into our joined hands.  And then this healing warmth seemed to flood my whole being, bringing tears to my eyes. ‘I forgive you, brother!’ I cried.  ‘With all my heart!”  I had never known so love so intensely, as I did then, But even then, I realized it was not my love, it was the power of the Holy Spirt.”

Colossians 2:13-15 NIV

God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

1 John 3:14 NIV

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 NIV

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
