Boldly Trust God

How do you Boldly Trust God? Pastor Matt continues in the book of Luke, reminding us that we can Boldly Trust God when we are going through a storm.

Sermon Notes

Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

"No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light."

Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Jesus is about multiplying His life into our everyday lives.

Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

He told them: "Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them."

"It's as if Jesus is telling them: I am all the resource you will need, and I am with you!" – Dr. John Walker, Blessing Ranch Ministries

Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

So they set out and went from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere.

Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬a‬ ‭NIV

When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭10b‬-‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.

Serving Jesus comes from a deep connection to Jesus.

John‬ ‭15‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

Disconnecting from Jesus will eventually lead to withering.

John‬ ‭15‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

"If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned."

John‬ ‭15‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples."

Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, "Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here."

Luke 9:13 NIV

He replied, "You give them something to eat."

John‬ ‭6‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?" He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do."

Jesus believes His disciples are capable of solving the problems in front of them through their deep connection to Him!

John‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?"

What if the boy greedily kept his food for only Himself?  What will happen if we do that today?

What might have happened if the disciples had taken up Jesus’ challenges to feed the people?  What might happen if we take a chance and try something bold today?

Where is your fear interfering with your faith?  How might you take a bold step to join God in what He is doing in the world?

Boldly Trust God: Hard things have nothing on God. We take bold steps of faith in obedience and trust that He has amazing plans ahead. We're willing to give up the good things for the best things.
