READ: Matthew 5: 21-26

REFLECTION: Forgiveness. Reconciliation. I don't know about you, but to me, those can be such big words and large mountains for us to tackle. The devil will hold us captive if we do not take the steps necessary to solve disagreements between you and someone else. Jesus mentions that when you realize someone has strife against you, no matter where you are, you need to go and try to reconcile and ask for forgiveness. Jesus knew that failing to do this can create divides between people that are often irreparable.

There have been times in my life where I didn't take the extra effort to mend a broken relationship. One that stands out in my mind is a rift caused by multiple family members against me and my family (my wife and son). I wasn't in the wrong, but I didn't take steps to repair the relationship. I forgave them, but I didn't try to reconcile the relationship. I didn't leave my gift in front of the altar to go and be reconciled with them (Matthew 5:24). Forgiving, and being reconciled, doesn't mean you have to become best friends again. It should mean that we did our part to be like Jesus.

I'll close by quoting a song that's been on my mind all week:  Make this your prayer.

PRAYER: “I am a man in need of a constant revival

Jesus, come quickly, I need you for my survival.”

NEEDTOBREATHE -  Survival.
